Junior Delegate to Panhellenic President: Alexa H.

“Opportunity.”
That’s the one word Alexa H., Florida State University’s 2025 Panhellenic President, uses to describe the Panhellenic community she has so selflessly devoted herself to over the past four years. “Opportunity for growth. Opportunity to lead this university…Opportunity to meet your best friends and bridesmaids,” Alexa says, “The self-growth our women are capable of is unmatched on campus.”
A senior at Florida State on the Pre-Med track, Alexa was installed as Panhellenic’s President in November 2024. Originally from Manhattan, she always knew she wanted to go to college in Florida.“Everyone I spoke to was so…invested in me, as a freshman who hadn’t even committed to the school yet. I just felt so welcomed here,” Alexa recalls about her first tour at FSU.
For Alexa, going through formal recruitment her freshman year was a natural choice— unknown territory yet a refreshing and exciting experience nonetheless. “I had no idea what it would look like, what it meant, or what it was like. [But,] I had an amazing experience. I was just happy, happy to be here,” she said.
Leadership had always been a driving force in Alexa’s life, starting with her time on her high school dance team. “I loved leadership—it was something I wanted to keep doing,” she explained, “I got [to FSU] and knew I wanted to get involved right away.”
When she first joined her chapter, Alexa immediately applied for Junior Panhellenic Delegate. She fondly remembers Abby W., her chapter’s Panhellenic Delegate at the time, encouraging her to apply for the position; this mentorship was one of the first of many times Alexa felt the Panhellenic community’s belief in her potential. “She saw [something] in me, and I gave it a try! And, of course, I ended up loving it,” Alexa said, “The junior delegates became my best friends; it was an amazing environment for me.”
One of her favorite memories from her time in this role was her Junior Delegate retreat, where Fraternity & Sorority Life Director, Freddy Juarez, got on “his soapbox,” speaking to the women about how they can be the change the Panhellenic community needs. “I just felt so empowered and capable. He made me feel like I could make a difference in this community.”
Along with her term as Junior Delegate, Alexa also participated in CORE—a five-week new member initiative designed to enhance leadership skills and foster community among women in the community—and Emerging Leaders—an FSU-offered leadership class for FSL members. These experiences gave her the confidence to run for her chapter's Panhellenic Delegate the following year. “Because of the mentorship Abby provided, and shadowing her that whole year, I knew what I needed to do and how to continue that legacy.”
Her passion for Panhellenic continued to grow in these roles. Serving as a Rho Gamma in 2024 and working recruitment from the Panhellenic side was another turning point. “Honestly, I can say it all starts with things like Emerging Leaders, CORE, Junior Delegate…that’s really where it all started. I just became so passionate about working with our entire community. I felt so empowered by being in the Panhellenic space that I wanted to take it all the way.”
Now far settled into her role as President, Alexa has fully immersed herself in Panhellenic, leading Panhellenic meetings, overseeing the Panhellenic Executive Board and President’s Council, assisting with recruitment operations, and countless other responsibilities. “More generally, the President is really just that catch-all. You have to be able to answer any question about anything, which means you need to know everything about everything,” Alexa explained.
Her favorite part of being President was her involvement in recruitment. “It was a huge undertaking, but so fulfilling…Recruitment was historic. We had the most PNMs ever in FSU Panhellenic history, ending up with the biggest new member class. The environment was so positive and uplifting. No matter what side you were on — Rho Gamma, recruitment staff, team leader — everyone supported one another. There was no unnecessary conflict, just maturity and teamwork,” she said.
Even amid the intensity of recruitment mechanics, Alexa's most cherished memory was the people she met along the way. [During recruitment,] I also met my best friends, Lucie and Payton, through this role, and we spent every single day together over the summer. They truly feel like sisters to me. Meeting them senior year has been such a gift!”
Now, with her term nearing its end, Alexa reflects on all the collective achievements the entire Panhellenic community has made. “We’ve had a pretty amazing year,” she shared, “We got the Excellence Award from the National Panhellenic Conference and the SGLA Council Award. Those awards recognize everything we’ve [already] been doing. There’s no way for me or my board to take all the credit — it’s the whole community, the presidents, and everyone working to make things better.”
From a curious freshman stepping onto campus for the first time to the President of one of the largest Panhellenic communities in the country, Alexa H. has totally embodied what it means to be a Panhellenic woman: an empowered woman who loves fiercely, advocates for change, and seizes every opportunity in front of her. Her leadership—and more importantly, her legacy—will undoubtedly inspire potential and current members.
“Use your voice. I wish I could have…been more vocal about the things I wanted to change. If you feel like something’s wrong or if you’re questioning something, say it. If you have a feeling, just go for it. Because what’s the worst that could happen?” she said.
