While joining the Panhellenic community is an incredible experience, there are notable time, financial, and academic commitments that are required of you throughout your time as a member. We hope this is able to give you a glimpse into what it is like to be a member of Panhellenic at Florida State.

Joining a Panhellenic chapter is a time commitment, especially during your first few months of membership. Some responsibilities of chapter members include:

During your new member process, you may have additional meetings with your New Member Educator and all of the members of your new member class to learn about your chapter's history, ritual, and ways to get involved.

Additionally, your sorority will host chapter meetings where all the women in your chapter will come together to share announcements about upcoming events, meetings, and other information.

Each chapter also hosts different social functions, philanthropy events, and sisterhood activities and retreats throughout the semester! While some events will be optional, there will definitely be some required events and meetings too.

FINANCES

When deciding to join a sorority, it is important to consider the financial requirements of membership. The financial obligation varies depending on the chapter and should be discussed with everyone involved including whomever may be assisting them financially.

Chapter dues are distributed to the respective national organization, the Panhellenic Council, and to the local chapter. Local chapter fees may be utilized for food, sisterhood events, activities, housing corporation fees, and chapter facility staff.

The first semester of membership typically involves a new member/ initiation fee in addition to chapter dues, making the first semester of membership more expensive than the rest of your semesters. All Panhellenic sorority dues at FSU include a weekly meal plan.

During the Investment round, each chapter will give a comprehensive financial presentation to the potential new members. After the presentations, the potential new members will have the opportunity to ask the chapter women any specific questions they may have about membership dues.

ACADEMICS

As a member of the Panhellenic community, you are expected to remain in good academic standing. Chapters have several resources to help members excel academically including:

Mentorship programs where younger members are paired with older members who can help them with classes and offer advice.

Groups based on majors so sisters can give advice on classes and help if needed!

Study hours, where members are required to log a certain amount of hours that they have been studying or working on homework during the week.

Study nights at the chapter facility where members are able to study together!

Put myths and rumors to rest.
